A Designer Mom’s Long Haul (And Tantrum-free) Travel Kit

“I need two: first, one big enough for all my daughter’s plane essentials. My large one is from Burberry (see the stroller pic, above) and has long handles that allow me to throw it over my shoulders quickly, and is easy enough to hang on to the stroller. I got if from the airport a while ago. I find that airports have tailored products that you may not find at regular stores. The second is a small cross-body bag from my collection that can work as a third hand. It should be large enough to fit IDs, passports pens, my phone and other key items that will be handy.”

“Killing time is the main task on board and I find having them do something creative that keeps their attention. I like bringing scratch books and crayons. I always look at the on-sale colouring books first but tend to get some simple patterns for Gloria (she is nearly 3). For example, ones with fruits or animals so at the same time I can teach her some new words too.”

“It doesn’t need to be expensive, but comfortable, especially if it has her smell. I just pack the one from bed because it makes my daughter feel more at ease and familiar, and sleeps better with it on the flight.” Min isn’t picky and currently uses a furry one she got from Walmart.

“Travelling is tiring. It is very important to have a lightweight stroller, especially when flying; kids might get excited at the beginning but still there are times that they just want a place to sit or sleep. LUSH Enchanted Eye Cream “Eyes look the most tired when you travel with children. This eye cream is natural and resolves dark circles very quickly. I actually use it for face and neck for hydration.”

Benefit Erase Paste Concealer “This instantly gives you a glow and is very easy to apply. It covers well and brightens up under the eyes.”

Lipgloss “I bought this from Anthropologie because the packaging is so cute, but I don’t know who it’s by. It’s got loads of hydration, plus I love the colour. It’s a darker red, like a dark cherry and works with my complexion. I look more alive when I apply 1-2 coats.”

“Shoes need to be wide because travelling to Asia is such a long flight (15 hours approx); and feet tend to swell so I like to make sure there are enough space for them to grow (lol). Trust me. It makes such a big difference. Nike styles are my favourite, for me and for Gloria.” (Get something similar here and here).
