Sometimes we don’t have the the time to get up close with everyone we’d like to meet, so we decided to start a series called Snapshots, where we ask moms to send us a collection of picture perfect must-haves or mementos.
This week, we’re featuring Holt Renfrew’s Divisional VP of Creative, Sandy Kim. In other words, she’s the vision behind Holts magazine, Holts TV, their seasonal campaigns, online content, windows, café branding—anything that’s a visual communication. (Phew). Before landing in retail, Sandy spent 14 years honing her skills in publishing and art directed magazines such as Glow, Wish and Chatelaine.
Being a part of the fashion world means clothes and style are top of mind, however she doesn’t obsess over it. She simply enjoys it.
“I don’t really have a fashion style,” she says. “I never subscribe to one particular trend. It’s not about keeping up with them as much as seeing if it fits me.” For example, boho is one of her ‘go-to’ styles—the ease and freedom of movement of floaty tops and skirts seem to work well with her busy lifestyle.
“When it comes to my wardrobe, it’s not just about what’s in my closet but how, when and why I wear certain pieces or outfits. And because I’m defined by many things, my wardrobe speaks to my personality depending on the day. Your wardrobe is like wearing your heart on your sleeve.”
