Who: Veronica DiSanto, managing partner at Ines DiSanto Bridal (yup, she works with her designer mom but we’ll tell that amazing story another time).
Her travel schedule: “I attended trunk and bridal shows almost every week to places like L.A., Miami, Chicago and New York. Now I only go away for work twice a month so I can spend more time with my son Gabe.”
Her skin type: “It’s been oily my whole life but I noticed after I turned forty that it’s getting dryer. I also get rosacea when I eat dairy or drink red wine. I’m okay with cutting out dairy but saying no to red wine is not so easy for me.”
Her confession: “I’m addicted to skincare, I very much love spending money on good skincare and pampering myself that way, although I’m very picky and discerning about what I buy. I love the feeling of my face when it’s hydrated, but that means it often looks shiny. A lot of people tell me I need blotting papers but those just make my skin feel worse. I’m still figuring how to make my face feel moist and dewy without looking greasy.”
Her skincare shops: “I buy a lot of my products at Pure + Simple and it’s also were I get a Hydrating Facial every 4 to 6 weeks. I also go to Murale and see their beauty expert Tammy. She knows I don’t like anything with parabens or perfumes. I’m really sensitive to perfumes.”
What her derm said: “I went to my mom’s dermatologist thinking I needed botox or fillers—anything—to help me look younger and fresher. He told me I was too young and the only thing I need is Alyria Intense Radiance Serum with Vitamin C to help brighten and tighten my skin. I use it at night after my cleanser and toner. It feels really tingly but I’m used to it now.”
It’s not only about what she puts on her face: “I absolutely think that drinking chlororphyll or wheat grass or spirulina every day, is feeding my skin from the inside out. A naturopath suggested I use it to cleanse my body (it’s like an internal deordorant) but I have seen a difference in my skin too. It looks brighter and livelier. I usually have one tablespoon of a non-GMO chlorophyll and a litre of water with lemon slices twice a day. It’s a habit I miss when I travel.”
What she brings on the road: “I pack up everything except for the serum from Alyria. I need it all because I like to be at my best from head-to-toe at a trunk show and if my skin feels dry or irritated on the job, it’s going to stress me out and bother me all day.”
Here’s what’s in her travel beauty bag…
Tata Harper Purifying Cleanser “You’re supposed to wipe it off but I just leave it on like a mask to detoxify and hydrate, which I really need when I’m on the road and as soon as I get home.”
Coola Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 “They just came out with a spray version that I’m dying to try. How cool would it be to just spray it over your face and makeup in the middle of the day? I’ve tried so many natural or organic sunscreens and this one really blends in and doesn’t leave a white ghost-like finish like so many do.”
Pure + Simple Sensitive Cleansing Milk “It takes away every trace of makeup without drying your face like so many cleansers do.”
Caudalie Gentle Cleansing Milk “I told you I’m addicted to skincare. I like having options. I’ll bring this or my other facial cleanser.”
Naturopathica Lavender Honey Balancing Mist, Bio-Energy Lift Contouring Cream and Argan & Peptide Eye Wrinkle Repair Cream “I love this line. The only thing I hate about it is that it’s so expensive. It’s hard to find a formula that lifts and hydrates and the contouring cream has the right consistency, firms up my skin and gives me the moisture I need.”
Jurlique Superior Retexturizing Facial Serum “Some serums are too perfume-y, too thin or not hydrating enough. Not this one! It’s thick enough to lock-in moisture, spreads easily and penetrates well. I’m obsessed with finding the perfect texture. I only use it in the morning when I’m using my Alyria serum at night.
Patchology FlashPatch Eye Gels “If I’m going to a trunk show, I’ll bring these along with me. It just takes away any dryness and puffiness and wakes up my eyes when I need a quick fix.”
Pure + Simple Flawless Complexion Foundation in Café au Lait “It leaves behind a glow and gives me enough coverage. I also like Face Atelier Ultra Foundation in Sepia. I use that when I have an event and I need a more professional finish.”
